FROM THE EXTRAORDINARY TO THE ORDINARY

SHE: Sustainable Housing in Europe is a demonstration project funded by the European Commission under the 5th Framework Programme "Research and Development", programme on "Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development", Key Action 4 "City of tomorrow and cultural heritage".
The project, coordinated by Federabitazione Europe (Italy), association of Confcooperative, started on March 2003 and will end on February 2008.
SHE aims to demonstrate the real feasibility of sustainable housing, through pilot projects in 4 different countries, Denmark, France, Italy and Portugal, applying sustainable housing to the common praxis and integrating sustainability with the users' participation to the main steps of the constructing process.

SHE project in Portugal winner of national award

Portugal, 3 July 2007

The "Ponte da Pedra" development in Matosinhos (Porto) has won the important award of the National Housing Institute, a public institute under the Ministry of the Environment, because "in a future perspective, it is a pioneering example that every promoter of social housing must follow".

European Union Sustainable Energy Week 2007.

Brussels 29 January - 2 February.

The aim of the EUSEW is to become the key annual reference point for sustainable energy issues in Europe. The events organised during EUSEW cover key topics that highlight the multi-sectoral nature of sustainable energy development and stress the need for everyone to work together towards a common goal. www.eusew.eu

The SHE project is finalist for the Annual Award of the Campaign sustainable Energy Europe and is invited to present the project and to attend the award cerimony.

Retrofitting of social housing - financing and policy options

Thessaloniki (Greece), 7-8 November 2006

José Coimbra, Cooperative Union of NORBICETA, presentated the “Energy Efficiency in Portuguese Social Housing – Two Buildings, Two cases for success – The SHE Project in Portugal” explaining the experience gathered in two building projects, Bouça and Ponte da Pedra, and showing the audience the way that had led the Portuguese Cooperatives to success.

“Sistema Edificio®”: Presentation of the initial results of the ICMQ certification and the energy certification of the SHE intervention in Ozzano (Bologna)

In concomitance with the last edition of SAIE, on 27 October 2006 in Bologna, the annual convention of ICMQ on energy themes and certification systems took place.

As one of the first in Italy, the SHE project of Ozzano, promoted by the Consortium COPALC, has obtained the energy certification of the “Sistema Edificio®” of ICMQ. Read more

 

Reopening of the Round Table on the "Eco House" at the Ministry of Environment and Territory.

Launched in the occasion of the National Convention on Sustainable Housing, organized by Federabitazione-Confcooperative, the Round Table, composed of the main stakeholders of the building sector, wants to promote and incentive sustainability in this sector, through actual actions of awareness, dissemination and training of public and private actors. Read more

6th Meeting of the SHE Project

The annual meeting of the SHE partners took place from 18-21 May 2006 hosted by the Danish partne, the Housing Association Ringgaarden. During the meeting the state of advancement of the eight pilot projects, which are almost all in the construction phase, was discussed and decisions were taken to ensure the best possible outcome of the project

Presentation of the model apartment of Ponte da Pedra 2nd Phase

Matosinhos (Portugal), 8 April 2006

At the event, José Coimbra presented the sustainability aspects introduced in the SHE pilot-project of Norbiceta. Among the participants there were people from the society, cooperative members, the media, and local and national authorities, including the Mayor Guilherme Pinto and the Under-Secretary of State for Land and City Management João Ferrão, who both emphasized the value of this construction as a model for future constructions. Read more

European Social Housing Week

The European Parliament adopted a formal resolution*
which considers: “...that expenses which relate to renovation of social housing with a view to saving energy and protecting the environment should be included within eligible expenditure”.
 During the Social Housing Week one conference will be dedicated to the role of structural funds and place of housing in urban renewal (info@cecodhas.org)
